How to Boil Water---Faster!

That is steam on that lid--it's not dirty!

Have you ever been in a hurry to cook dinner and the water takes forever to boil? Want to boil water faster then simply cover with a lid (to keep the steam (heat) in) and your water will be boiling in no time!

If your pan does not have a lid, then cover with foil, wax paper or a plate...just something to keep the steam in.

Yes, You can Freeze Eggs!

Last night, I shared that I had gotten a great deal on my husbands favorite eggs; and one of my readers asked if eggs can be frozen?

So I thought that I would share how my mom taught me to freeze eggs. It is very simple.

*Mix the yolks and egg whites together; then pour into an ice cube tray. Two cubes are the equivalent of one large egg.

KITCHEN HELPS

We have all been there, we cook, taste, and think ewww! It is either too salty, too sweet, too thin, not the right color, etc.! Here are some tried and helpful tips for when things go wrong in the kitchen.

Too Salty---add some cider vinegar and sugar, or simply add sugar.
If your soup or stew is too salty add some raw potatoes, discard after they have absorbed the salt.

Too Sweet---add salt
Or if it's a main dish or vegeatable add a teaspoon of cider vinegar.

Pale Gravy---brown the flour well before adding the liquid. This also helps prevent lumpy gravy.

Thin gravy---add some cornstarch, or instant potato flakes

Greasy Gravy---add some baking soda
