LightInTheBox.com : One Stop Shop for every Mom's Back-to-School Shopping

LightInTheBox.com has everything from clothing and accessories to electronics and toys—--making it the one stop shop for every mom's back-to-school shopping.

One thing that caught my eye was this stylish backpack. It's light weight, bigger on the inside than it looks like on the outside---it has several pockets on the inside and out which makes it great for keeping smaller items separate from larger items. Plus you can pack snacks in those pockets too keep them from getting flattened by all those books!

A few of the pockets snap close and the snaps are are very well attached---I have opened them several times since I have had this stylish backpack!

The backpack come with these fun, little, colorful bears that you can attach to the back pack.

I am very impressed with this backpack---I actually just love it! The only problem is that both my girls want this backpack----sigh!

If you decide you want to order one, it is on sale for the next few days!

Sprout Foods are great for breakfast in the car or lunch boxes

Mornings can be very busy, especially trying to get everyone fed and out the door. Now, throw school into the mix of those already busy mornings or that panic feeling of getting half way to school and your child realizes they forgot their back pack....sigh!

Back to School Shopping at Kohl's

Disclosure: I was provided a Kohl's Gift Card for this review; but all the opinions and fun that my guys and I had are 100% mine!

Kohl's is one of my favorite places to shop because their clearance deals are amazing. I always save so much money by using coupons with those clearance deals, plus if I time my shopping just right, I can get Kohl's cash back too; which equals a double score in my book!

No matter what store you shop in, you have probably noticed "sale" or "clearance" signs alerting you to those mark downs. Two things that I like about Kohl's signs (pictured above) is that they will have the sale price listed and every time you walk into the store you see these signs posted throughout the store; there is something always on sale at Kohl's which makes your money stretch farther.

While most people shop Kohl's for their Back to School Clothing, don't forget to pick your child up a back pack---or two!

Plus you can buy glue, folders, paper, tape, scissors and many more items that your child might need for the classroom....Kohl's is just not a clothing place!

A couple of items that I am always on the lookout for are dress shirts and ties. With three men being in our home, they are always needing them. Our oldest will be starting his second year of college this year and occasionally they have to "dress up" for special occasions and some days he just likes wearing a dress shirt and tie to class.

So I was thrilled when I found shirts and ties on sale!

He likes bright colors; so he grabbed a lime green, purple and peach colored shirt. All three shirts were under $20!

We also found underwear on sale---one can never have too many underwear, especially when the washing machine eats a couple of pair each cycle!

We also found some pull over gym shirts and a few collard shirts for only $8.99 (Score!)

While the guys stayed in the men's section, I ventured off to the girl's section. I found some of the cutest dresses and accessories for the girls.

I love, love, love the dress on the right pictured above and it was on sale for $24.99 (over 60% off)

And then there were these matching earrings and necklaces right buy the dresses too! I just love the bright colors of fall.

As I made my way through the jewelry section, I found several items marked at just 90% off! With 90% off, I grabbed a few things, but shhh, do not tell my girls!

Whether you are shopping for clothes, underwear,  backpacks, or glue for your child, teen or college aged student, you will find it at Kohl's. And Moms and Dads, Kohl's might be having a "Back to School" sale, but take advantage of these deals and buy something for yourself too!

Let Your Child put their Best Face forward this year with AcneFree

When I was in fourth grade, I started wearing eye makeup and a lot of it. Back then the bright blue color was in style and you wore it out past your eyes a little bit, or at least I did! It wasn't long before I had pimples/acne all over my temples and I still remember my fourth grade teacher telling me that my breakout was probably because of all the eye makeup that I was wearing...on my temples! hmmm!

I wished I had something other than that "white" stuff that you spread all over your face and then rinsed off--something that actually worked!

For many kids, a new school year is the perfect opportunity to start a more effective skincare routine to help them look their best. Help your child put their best face forward this year with AcneFree, a complete line of highly effective acne treatment products.

Whether they need to target a problem area with AcneFree Maximum Strength Terminator, fight serious acne with the AcneFree Severe Acne 24 Hour Acne Clearing System, or simply keep their pores clean with the AcneFree Energizing Acne Wash & Scrub, the broad range of AcneFree products offers everything they will need to achieve an A+ complexion all year long.

Occasionally one of our girls will breakout on her forehead, around her hairline; she has been using the terminator, and it is drying her acne up pretty quickly.

AcneFree products are available at major drug and mass retailers nationwide.

Back to School with Nature's Own Breads | Keep those young Scholars Tummies Full

Nature's Own offers you quality bakery foods for every meal--soft variety breads, premium specialty breads, white breads, buns, sandwich rounds, and breakfast items. My all time favorite is their white bread, it is always so soft---I have never opened a package and found a stale piece!

With the kids going back to school, keep them well fed with Nature's Own bread products, pack them their favorite sandwich in their lunch box, have them an afternoon snack waiting on them when they get in from school, like a Tuna Swiss Melt or prepare something out of the ordinary with Nature's Own bread like Parmesan and Heb Crusted chicken.

Below you will find a few recipes to help keep those young scholars tummies full!

Tuna Swiss Melt
To make this classic tuna melt, slices of 100% Whole Wheat Bread are topped with a simple tuna salad and Swiss cheese, then broiled.
Servings: 2 | Ready in: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
4slices Nature’s Own 100% Whole Wheat bread
3tablespoons mayonnaise
2tablespoons finely chopped celery
1tablespoon finely chopped onion

tablespoons red & green bell peppers (diced)
1can (12 ounces) water-packed tuna, drained, flaked
4(1 oz) slices Swiss cheese

Directions
1)Combine mayonnaise, celery, onion, mustard, and peppers.

2)Add salt and pepper to taste.

3)Stir in tuna; mix well.

4)Spoon the tuna mixture evenly over bread slices.

5)Top with cheese.

6)Place on a baking sheet.

7)Bake at 350° F for 15 minutes or until heated through and cheese melts.

8)Serve immediately.

Parmesan & Herb Crusted Chicken
Switch up your weeknight dinner routine! Chicken is topped with a mixture of bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, fresh garlic and parsley, then baked to crispy perfection.

Servings: 4 | Ready in: 50ish minutes
Ingredients:
3slices of Nature's Own 100% Whole Wheat Bread
4boneless chicken breasts, halved
1/2teaspoon salt
4teaspoons Dijon mustard
1/3cup fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves
2cloves garlic, peeled
1/3cup grated Parmesan cheese
3tablespoons olive oil
freshly ground pepper

Directions:
1)Preheat oven to 375 F.

2)Lightly spray shallow 2-quart baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

3)Place chicken in prepared baking dish; season with salt and pepper.

4)Spread 1 teaspoon mustard over each chicken breast; set aside.

5)Place parsley and garlic in food processor container.

6)Process until minced.

7)Tear bread into large pieces; add to food processor with cheese and oil.

8)Pulse to form crumbs.

9)Divide bread crumb mixture evenly over chicken breasts, pressing lightly on top.

10)Bake 20 to 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.

Apple Charlottes
It’s apple pie – Nature’s Own style! Soft, cinnamon-sugary apples are tucked into a butter-bread crust and baked to a golden-brown.
Servings: 12 | Ready in: 40 minutes
Ingredients:
18 slices Nature’s Own Butterbread, divided
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened, divided
4 cups chopped, peeled tart apples
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
3/4 cup apricot jam or preserves
powdered sugar for garnish

Directions:
1)Grease each of 12 muffin cups with 1/2 teaspoon butter.

2)Roll 6 bread slices flat using rolling pin. Cut two 2 1/2” circles from each slice; set 12 bread circles aside.

3)Remove crusts from remaining 12 bread slices. Ease 1 slice into each buttered muffin cup, gently pressing bread against bottoms and sides of cups. (Be careful not to tear bread. If bread tears, patch holes with bread scraps.)

4)Melt 3 tablespoons butter in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add apples, granulated sugar and cinnamon. Cook and stir until apples are tender and liquid has evaporated, about 5 minutes.

5)Remove from heat; stir in lemon peel.

6)Divide hot apple mixture evenly among muffin cups. Place bread circles on top of apple mixture. Fold edges of bread slices extending above edges of cups down over circles.

7)Melt remaining 3 tablespoons butter; brush over surface of bread.

8)Bake at 350° F for 15 minutes.

9)Immediately remove Charlottes from muffin cups, placing them upside down on serving plate. Place jam in small saucepan and warm over low heat, stirring once or twice; drizzle 1 tablespoon jam over each hot apple charlotte. Sift powdered sugar over jam.

Star Spangled Burgers:
Servings: 12
Ingredients:
12 slices Nature’s Own Honey Wheat Bread
1 envelope (1 ounce) dry onion soup mix
2/3 cup ketchup
2 pounds extra lean ground beef, divided
12 slices (1 ounce each) American cheese

Directions:
1) Brown 1 pound beef in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat.
Transfer to a bowl. Brown remaining 1 pound beef.

2) Combine all the beef, the ketchup and soup mix in the skillet. Cook
over medium heat about 7 minutes. Remove from heat.

3) Position oven rack 6 inches from heat source. Preheat broiler.

4) Meanwhile, using a 3- to 4-inch star cookie cutter, cut one star from
each cheese slice. Set aside.

5) Place bread slices on a large baking sheet (in two batches, if
necessary). Lightly toast both sides of bread.

6) Top each toast slice with about 1/2 cup of the meat mixture,
spreading mixture to edges of the toast. Top each “burger” with a
cheese star.

7) Broil just until cheese stars begin to melt, about 1 minute.

**All the above recipes can be found on the Nature's Own Website.

The Academic Planner: A Tool for Time Management

Does your student have trouble managing his or her time? Are homework assignments missed due to poor planning? Is balancing after-school activities and homework a struggle? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you need to get your child a planner---yes, a planner.

With the yearly academic planner, you or your child can plan classes, their homework and activities by the month and by the week. Days of the week are listed horizontally across the planner; which will help your child see their assignments and due dates for those homework assignments, plus they can also see those "Fun" activities too!

In the back of the planner is a vinyl pocket that can hold notes from friends, note cards, report cards and more!

Here are some of the details of this time management tool:

Weekly planner pages line up with the index on a subject-by-subject basis
Spaces to enter after-school activities and weekend commitments
Grid systems allows for both scheduled and available blocks of time at a glance
4 color cover designs--I really like the blue one I received!
Larger interior pages
Interior vinyl pocket to hold cards or notes
Three hole punched for easy insertion in binder
Durable cover
Based on the school year calendar

Another thing that I like about the planner is the notes pages. The notes pages are to jot down anything that you might need to remember for the month that is not date specific. Let’s say your son or daughter needs to remember that in November there will be a tryout for the Christmas choir, but they don’t know the date yet, they can make a note on the page. It really is the easiest planner I have come across so far and I have been homeschooling for 10+ years!

Lexar JumpDrive a *MUST* have for Back to School

With school days being right around the corner, we all need to make sure our children are prepared for their classes. We have all teenagers, three in high school and one starting his second year of college and their school needs (not wants!) are pretty much the same except for a few 'College" items differ for our oldest.

We have found a USB flash drive is a must with our children, especially when doing research papers. They can type their papers up at school, save them on the flash drive and then print the papers when needed.

Our family was recently sent the Lexar JumpDrive S23 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive to try and it's one of the smallest USB 3.0 drives that I have ever used! It quickly transfers my photos, videos, and files faster than other JumpDrives that I have tried. The drive features a slim, retractable design, and folks, it is very fast!

I talked about it so much that my husband took it to work with him----Sorry Kids! I guess we will have to get you another one!

The Lexar JumpDrive S23 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive comes in a range of colors, and is available in capacities from 8GB-64GB. We have ( or maybe I should say, my husband has) the 16GB and seems to be "Big" enough for our needs. You can buy the Lexar JumpDrive S23 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive on their website or over on Amazon.

Amazon actually has the 16GB on sale right now for just $14.99 (was $39.99).

To find a Lexar JumpDrive S23 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive for your or your child's smart device check their website out here.

Soon they will be back with their friends, teachers, and school books; lockers will be slamming and they will be racing off to their classes. Protect their Devices with Tech21

Summer is still officially here, but for our children back to school is closing in on the horizon! Soon they will be back with their friends, teachers, and school books; lockers will be slamming and they will be racing off to  their classes.

Now a days, some schools require students to have "Smart" devices (laptops or smart phones with web access); which can be pricey especially if the school does not supply them for your children. So make sure your devices are protected with some kind of cover.

I was recently sent a Tech21 D3O Impact Band for my smart phone. The Impact Band encircles my device, and shows off the distinctive logo on the back. The Impact Band comes with a compatible clear back plate to prevent scratches and other damage to the back of my smart phone. It fits securely, and allows me access to all ports and functional buttons, which is the ideal solution for my device.

Tech 21 carries cases for Smartphones, Ipods, Tablets and Mackbooks and they also carry screen protectors for your devices too!

To find a Tech21 product for your or your child's smart device check their website out here.

Back to School can be Lovely----with a Little Candy!

As our children head back to school, that means we, as parents need to come up with lunches and snacks to send with them. One snack food that I plan on giving my children is candy--yes candy! It's a healthy candy, so y'all don't freak out on me!

The Lovely Candy Company, founded in Chicago in 2013, makes delicious candies for consumers who have food sensitivities or celiac disease and must maintain a gluten-free diet. The line also serves health-conscious consumers looking for treats that offer the best ingredients available. The candies are certified gluten-free, non-GMO, certified kosher and contain no high fructose corn syrup

The caramels are chewy, but with a softer texture than regular caramels; the fruit chews are bursting with flavor from the moment you first bite in to them. I like that the candy includes all-natural ingredients and no high fructose corn syrup as well as some real fruit. These candies would be great to put in your child's lunch box as a snack.

The fruit chews are my favorite!

So go ahead, and sneak something yummy, yet healthy in your kids lunch boxes this year!

You can find these Lovely candies at Target and other fine retailers that are listed on their website.

For more information, go to www.lovelycandyco.com or connect on Facebook on The Lovely Candy Company page.

Parents, Teachers and Students all Need THERA°PEARL for Back to School!

Summer is still officially here, but for our children back to school is closing in on the horizon! Soon they will be back with their friends, teachers, and school books; lockers will be slamming and they will be racing off to the next class.

With your child starting school, that means recess, games, practices, cheerleading, bees stings (Ouch!), and boo-boos will occur. Thera Pearl wraps are a must have!

The THERA°PEARL’s wraps can offer both cold and heat therapy. For cold therapy, just place the wraps in the freezer for two hours and then apply to the hurting area. For heat therapy, place one of the wraps in the microwave for a few seconds. The wrap holds its therapeutic temperature for a full 20 minutes. Numb the ache with analgesic cold, or soothe and release the tightness with penetrating heat. Yours and your child's sore spot will thank you.

Below are a few THERA°PEARL items that I recommend you having on hand for when your child (or yourself) needs them.

Whether you're an athlete, hardcore gamer, or simply work at a computer all day, Thera Pearl's ankle/wrist wrap has the relief you'll need to continue kicking soccer balls, slaying zombies, and sending emails, pain-free. Don't let sprains and strains keep you from doing the things you love (or need) to do. Our ankle/wrist wrap is doctor-designed and filled with pliable gel pearls that easily conform to your body, even when frozen.

TheraPearl Pals: These are colorful, kid-sized animal friends calm and comfort as they heal. Kids love to play with the pearls so much, they won’t fuss or fidget! Pals won a “Parent Tested-Parent Approved” Award for quality and appeal. An independent lab has verified TheraPearl is Latex, Lead & BPA free. They’re safe, hypoallergenic, reusable, and won’t drip or leak. You’ll feel good about using them, and so will your kids.

TheraPearl’s Sports Pack will come in handy for your child's post-workout and post-treatment aches, pains, swelling and redness. It's compact, portable, drip and mess-free, (it beats a melting ice pack or soggy hot towel any day!)---easy to handle and no messy clean up!

The oval-shaped contour pack with its adjustable strap lets your child play comfortably. Use it anytime, they need icy-cold or deep-heating therapy. It’s perfect for sore knees and ankles, wrists and hands, shoulders and chest.

And last but not least...
This one is for us parents...or the teachers!

Therapearl’s full-face mask covers it all, so you get instant pain relief from forehead to chin. The over sized round has openings for eyes, nose and mouth, and a fully adjustable Velcro strap that holds it comfortably in place.

Heat it to open clogged sinuses, chill it to soothe tender skin, or make it part of your facial routine. You’ll find dozens of uses for it. Just put it on, relax and let the revolutionary gel beads go to work.

We parents might need this around report card time or it would be a great teacher's gift for Christmas---I would NOT give this to your child's teacher on the first day of school; she might get the wrong impression about your child--so wait until Christmas!

Back to School with TerraCycle

Summer is still officially here, but for our children back to school is closing in on the horizon! Soon they will be back with their friends, teachers, and school books; lockers will be slamming and they will be racing off to the next class.

This year, send them off to school with something from TerraCycle.

TerraCycle offers various school supplies that allow students to be expressive with their supplies and accessories while also caring for the environment. TerraCycle, a recycling and upcycling company, uses traditionally non-recyclable items to create a variety of cool, creative and eco-friendly school supplies.

TerraCycle's Drink Pouch Pencil Case is perfect for younger children to take to the classroom. Sturdy and cute, the pencil case is made from upcycled drink pouch materials that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill. TerraCycle also offers shiny, flexible upcycled Sun Chips folders to help keep students organized.

Environmentally conscious parents can send their kids back to school with upcycled TerraCycle backpacks, made with materials from food and snack companies like Frito-Lay. Not just for young children, these well-crafted and stylish backpacks could be a fun and eco-friendly statement for college bound students. Aside from backpacks, the TerraCycle Doritos Messenger Bag, made from actual Doritos bags, can help students pack for class while reminding them of their favorite snacks.

One of my favorite items from TerraCycle is this sharp, functional messenger bag; it is made from pre-consumer waste from the Doritos X-13D packaging material. The messenger bag comes with an adjustable strap.

TO view other TerraCyle items, you can visit their website HERE
