Apple Dumplings---Made with Mountain Dew = YUMMO!

I love sharing "Healthy" recipes with all of you--NOT! I love sharing recipes, but this one is no where near healthy, but it was fun to make!

Obviously, I didn't get a picture before everyone dug in, but hopefully you can see what they are suppose to look like.

Ingredients:
*2 whole Granny Smith Apples
*2 cans (8 Oz. Cans) Crescent Rolls
*2 sticks Butter
*1-1/2 cup Sugar
*1 teaspoon Vanilla
*Cinnamon--as much as you like
*1 can (12 Oz.) Mountain Dew Soda

Preparation Instructions:
*Peel and core apples. Cut each apple into 8 slices each. Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll. Place in a 9 x 13 buttered pan.

*Melt butter, then add sugar and stir just a little (one or two whirls--you want it grainy, not mixed well at all!).

*Add vanilla, stir, and pour entire mixture over apples. Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan (do not pour over the apples, you want the butter and sugar mixture to 'cling' to the apples)

*Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.

~I left the peeling on the apples. I was trying to trick my brain into thinking that if I left the peeling on, then I would be getting some fiber among all the calories and fat!

If you try it, let me know how you like it.
.
****For the crockpot, cook on high for 2 hours. I have never tried these in the crockpot and I am guessing that these will not brown on top like in the oven---right?
