Ever wish you paid more attention in math class. Or ever wonder how many miles it was to Grandmas house...or Kilometers?
Then Math for Grownups is probably a book that you should read. Author Laura Laing, takes everyday math, that most of us have forgotten, or should have learned in high school, and adds a bit of her witty humor to make 'hard' math fun, even calculus.
The author starts us out with estimation at the grocery store and quickly moves into the order of operations (yep, Algebra II). I just wish I had known about this book last year while teaching my oldest the subject.
I received one book to review and one book to give away to one of my readers. Just leave a comment below with your name and email address. This giveaway will be over, Sunday 7/24, at 11:59PM (EST).
Good luck!
.
***For those of you that are interested in this book, and do not win a copy of it through this giveaway, Amazon.com has it priced for $9.90 (down from $14.95).

ReplyDeleteI used to teach Math and currently tutor some of the youth in town as volunteer work. I would love new and interesting ways to captivate these young minds. I think this is an awesome idea for a book! We need to keep math fun and show it's importance. bianca.barker@gmail.com
