I love making/baking Christmas gifts. My children enjoy it to. In the above picture are loaves of Banana Bread and Orange Nut Bread. These breads are delicious and easy to make and our family loves them. These loaves of bread make great inexpensive presents for Sunday school teachers, school teachers, and neighbors.
These breads freeze too!
Recipe for the Banana Bread:
1/4 cup butter, soften
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup mashed rip bananas (about 2)
1/2 cup sour cream (I am convinced that this is what makes this bread so yummy!!!!)
2 and 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup walnuts...optional!
*In large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
*Stir in bananas and sour cream. Combine the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Stir in banana mixture just until moistened. Fold in nuts if using them.
* Transfer to a greased bread pan, reg. 8 x 4
*Bake at 350 degrees F for one hour or until that faithful tooth pick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan. Let cool completely before cutting with a knife.
*Enjoy!
