There's no question that consumer spending has slowed down a bit. But that doesn't mean you--or your neighbors--have stopped shopping. Indeed, discretionary spending is alive and well. Yet what we're spending that extra income on today is vastly different than what we were buying a year ago.

Hello Everyone and Welcome to Swappin' Spoons! Years ago, I started this blog because I had asked for a Potato Soup recipe over on Facebook and 37 of my friends sent me a recipe for potato soup. 37! I instantly thought we needed a place to share recipes and immediately thought of starting a blog. Almost everything. I used to be one of those,"Its only $1" or "That's a good deal" people. Now, I only buy essentials and make do without a lot of things. I even quit buying paper towels! Now we just use regular towels. I take my children to the park and the library for entertainment instead of the pricey restaurants we used to enjoy. But mostly we make do with what we have. Ironically, its been much nicer staying home instead of driving all over town with two children in tow.
