I know that schools give free lunches to school children that cannot afford to buy or bring their on lunches during the school year, but did you know that schools are starting to give free lunches to children through out the summer as well. Local school districts are giving free lunches to kids age 1 to 18 every weekday all summer long! Sounds too good to be true, but it's not! Check out what My Life Rhapsody has to say about it here on her blog http://www.homesteadblogger.com/runnelsrhapsody/Works%2Bfor%2BMe%2BWednesday/
She is blogging about free lunches in the South Bend, Indiana area. So if you or someone you know live in this area it is worth checking out because there are several 'free lunch' sites listed!
Hello Everyone and Welcome to Swappin' Spoons! Years ago, I started this blog because I had asked for a Potato Soup recipe over on Facebook and 37 of my friends sent me a recipe for potato soup. 37! I instantly thought we needed a place to share recipes and immediately thought of starting a blog. I told my husband I needed a catchy name for the blog and he is the one that came up with Swappin' Spoons.
This is true. Our rural/small town school in Kansas has been doing this for probably 5 years or so now (maybe longer?). And any kid, even kids not yet in school or preschool, can eat free. There are no income requirements either, unlike the school lunch program throughout the year! Parents can eat for a nominal fee of $3 or so. This is a great way to eat cheaply this summer!
